Sand spray effect
Introduction:
A guide to creating a sand spray effect for bikes.
In this guide some of the paints used are the older style Games Workshop paints as I started the force before the new ones were released so I've also given the current equivalents afterwards.
The materials I used are listed below the guide (in order of appearance) but it's only a guide and if you prefer using something different then don't feel constrained by my choices.
This is an old guide which I will be updating soon but should give you a good idea of how to go about it.
![]() Sand spray effectThis guide shows how to recreate the effect I've used on a few of my bikers to suggest sand being kicked up as they skid around on the sand. | ![]() 01 PrepI first cut a channel into the back tyre and cut out a thin piece of clear plastic (packaging from blister packs and other goods is perfect) in a curved shape shown in the photo. | ![]() 02 First layerThen its glued in place and painted with super glue in streaks from underneath the back tyre, make sure to leave gaps towards the back so it looks like the sand is being kicked up. |
